The Tour-issue drivers from TM's R500 series were the gold standard for drivers as far as I am concerned. If it takes "old technology" to hit quality golf shots, then that is what I will continue to use. So many of the newer huge 460cc drivers lack any kind of real workability and tend to "balloon" shots badly when hitting into a headwind. I play in the wind quite a bit so I want a drive that allows me to control trajectory well upwind or downwind too.

#PING G10 VS TAYLORMADE 580 DRIVER#
I must have a driver that allows me to easily work the ball in either direction as I tend to play courses with a lot of dogleg holes and crosswinds. Now the TMs are a little stronger than most with the 4,5, and 6 irons. Balles, Tees, Relève Pitch, gants, accessoires dentrainement : tout ce quon peut trouver dans les poches dun sac de golf. From what I seen, most of the 7-PW are the same or 1 degree difference in loft. Many of them are going with the stronger loft. It must be well suited to both my swing and my style of play. Comparing Ping to TM (data from both mfg sites): Not sure if you have looked at many of the specs on the newer clubs, but they are very similar now. In our test the club was very easy to hit and the ball certainly stayed hit - great distance Unlike the normal R580, the flight of the ball seemed slightly lower, although it is still higher than. The R500 Tour is a very "workable" fairway finder and hits LONG bullet-like drives that roll like crazy upon landing.ĭon't believe all the marketing hype.drivers don't have to be "bigger" to be better, and "newer" doesn't automatically equate to better either!įor me a driver has to fit me in a number of ways: First it has to suit my eye, and my ear, then it has to feel right to my hands. The XD version of the popular TaylorMade R580 does exactly what it says on the tin. My 325cc 9.5* TaylorMade R500 Tour with a 45.25" Black 757 Speeder shaft tipped 1/2" is still as good as a driver gets for me! Nothing else I have tried has the kind of wind-penetrating trajectory this R500 Tour has, and nothing even comes close to its super-solid feel and that lovely muted "thwack" sound.
